LU·LES is the result of two women’s particular vision of the world of fashion. Started in Mallorca in 2019, this small family-run business aspires to continue being an independent brand, strongly rooted in local craftsmanship and free from the temptation to pursue temporary fads.
Our products are made exclusively by artisans that have had to endure the relocation of a previously booming leather manufacturing industry, and which proudly form part of the island’s cultural heritage. With a strong influence from the colors and textures present in the landscapes which surround us, our models represent the Mediterranean character and are named after the mountains of Mallorca.
Prioritizing sustainability is absolutely fundamental to our manufacturing process. Due to this, we produce only small batches of each product, buy material from local businesses, and create each bag artisanally in the workshop we collaborate with.
Striving to create the minimum waste possible, we also make use of salvaged materials such as buttons, buckles and leather sourced from Majorcan factories. This is our way of utilizing the least amount of natural resources and supporting our local economy. We use leather, organic and 100% cotton fabrics. Since they are natural materials, the products may present tiny alterations or tonal changes, both testaments to the uniqueness of each material used to create our product.
We use high quality leather, mainly cowhide, veal and suede, derived from the leftovers of the meat industry. 70% of our leather comes from tanners, manufacturers or retailers, which are part of the Leather Working Group (LWG). LWG is an international non-profit organization dedicated to improving environmental conditions and driving best practices throughout the leather supply chain. Tanneries undergo independent audits that follow rigorous criteria and are classified according to the environmental standards that each facility meets. The other 30% of our leather is recovered; it comes from the surplus of old Majorcan factories and workshops.
